BlueJam has a Community Samba Band that has been going for over 10 years and is developing into a popular choice for festivals around the county as well as local and community events. We can also add tunes via horns and voices to suit any occasion, either indoors or outdoors. We also provide lively and interesting community and pro bands for festivals where a stage and cover is provided. We can provide PA.
Young musicians are at the heart of BlueJam and propel us in the right direction! Many of our current tutors and leaders have been with the organisation from the beginning, gone away to work or study and come back either to live or visit for sessions or projects.
Our focus on composition and songwriting as a place to start and finish and notice what happens along the way, has meant that we have developed young people with great musicianship skills but also a passion and commitment for helping others to find their voice.
BlueJam is in partnership with the Brewery Arts, Kendal and Soundwave to deliver Early Years provision from 2014 – 5. We are really pleased for this support as our BabyJam sessions, led by Karen Barbier are very popular and we now have the opportunity to offer them to young parents, children with special needs, and to train other practitioners in sensory play.
In 2014 over 450 young musicians from twenty-three North Cumbrian schools were involved in the transition project. In partnership with North Lakes School and with support from Cumbria Music Hub BlueJam has run the choir and ensemble for the last 5 years. Every year the programme develops and changes – want to join us?
BlueJam tries to arrange opportunities for singers to use their voice in ways that reflect their personality, creative impulses and gives them confidence to sing in choirs, perform as soloists or take up instruments or write. We work with singers from the many excellent choirs in the area and also run our own.
Bringing together singing projects from Soundwave, BlueJam and the Brewery to explore genre and approach.

BlueJam works with composer and performing artist Tom Leah on training days for composing and producing music in the studio.
These happen at weekends and as part of our holiday music schools programme.

We have partnered with Brewery Arts, Kendal and Soundwave in Young Vocal Leader programmes and have run our own bespoke programme of training, mentoring and work experience for the last 10 years.
I have really enjoyed playing jazz with such a range of people and hope it continues to be a success. Blue Jam has provided me with such a great platform to develop as a musician, I have certainly benefited from being involved for the last 10+ years, and of course I would be happy to be involved again if I’m ever back over any holidays
