The NCTCE programme provides creative singing, instrumental and composition opportunities for Year 5 & 6 pupils in participating schools. Facilitated by a team of composers, film-makers and studio engineers, the programme gives small primary schools the chance to perform and record in large and interesting venues such as Penrith Leisure Centre, Alhambra Cinema and Rheged Centre with schools from across North Cumbria. BlueJam Young Music Leaders, work experience students and trainees from over 6 secondary schools act as mentors, role models, band accompaniment and conductors.
The NCTCE is in its 6th year. Last year we had 23 schools participating leading to a very big summer event. Although successful, the time stresses schools face in the end of the summer term have led us to a smaller, modular approach this year.
Our March event in 2015 “Afternoon at the Alhambra” was voted by participating schools the one of the best we have delivered, so we will be repeating the format in the Autumn Term.
NCTCE is a North Lakes School/BlueJam Arts project
